Our Crew

Captain Will Everett

Captain Will grew up in Northern Minnesota and has had a passion for the outdoors since he was a child. Captain Will entered the U.S. Air Force in 1996 and retired from the U.S. Air Force in May 2016 after providing military meteorological services for over 20 years.  In 2001, he moved to Alaska while serving on Active Duty and immediately fell in love with all the incredible opportunities the 49th state has to offer.  It didn't take long before his love for the ocean grew and he found himself on the water as much as possible. After 2 combat tours and numerous assignments and temporary duty locations Captain Will retired from the military and jumped into the charter industry in Valdez. In 2017 he established Valdez Saltwater Adventures and hasn’t looked back. When Captain Will isn’t busy running a boat or with other business matters he enjoys hunting, traveling, and spending time with his wife Marta and his son Aaron at their home in Valdez. It’s should come at no surprise at all that much of the little bit of he has off in the summer is spent in a boat fishing with his son, who’s has definitely caught the fishing bug! Captain Will's meteorological knowledge, experience fishing and navigating Alaskan waters, and his love for sharing what Alaska has to offer makes him the perfect candidate to help you enjoy your next Alaskan adventure.

Captain Buddy Scott

Captain Buddy moved to Valdez with his family at the age of 11. Upon moving to Valdez, his dad was employed as a charter captain, so buddy spent much of his time in the summer helping out on and around the boats and working as a deckhand. In 2018, he became a licensed captain, and in his rookie year, he was the captain on the boat that hauled in the Valdez Fish Derbies winning halibut, weighing in at an incredible 285.8lbs!! He started working full time for Valdez Saltwater Adventures in 2020. In the off-season Buddy, his wife Lizz, their 3 kids Ayden, Ares, Alivia, and 2 dogs live in North Pole, Alaska. In the off-season, he enjoys spending time with his family, watching his kids play hockey or gymnastics, listening to music, and trying to stay warm in lovely North Pole, Alaska. His love for Alaska, Valdez, and being on the water makes him a perfect candidate to share your next Alaskan adventures with.

Captain Rob Cosgrove

Captain Rob a North Carolina native, has been in the charter fishing industry since 2012. After completing his university studies in fisheries management in 2008, he worked as a field technician for several universities studying near coastal and anadromus fishes. He spent the summer of 2012 in the backcountry on the Copper River running fish wheels for the Native Village of Eyak. From there he made his way to Maui, Hawaii where by chance landed a crew spot on one of the big game fishing charters. He quickly realized that this was his calling and that fish research was a stepping stone to get him where he belonged. From 2012 - 2022 he worked on multiple boats with many seasoned captains from the island, learning all that he could from them about operating vessels and local fishing techniques. He became very well versed in trolling, buoy fishing, and bottom fishing for marlin, mahi mahi, wahoo, yellow fin tuna, and giant jack trevally. In 2022 he swapped out his flip flops for xtra-tuff boots and returned to Alaska to run a charter boat in Ketchikan. After 2 seasons in Ketchikan, captain Rob joined the Valdez Saltwater Adventures team for the 2024 fishing season. Captain Rob is a natural fit on our team and his vast amount of fishing experience was immediately evident when he took the helm with us and started piling up fish for clients. Bringing the island vibes with him, captain Rob is all about showing you a FUN, SAFE time on the water, and doing what he can to fill your freezer.

Captain Curt Lemon

Captain Curtis Lemon is a seasoned professional guide with a passion for adventure, traveling over 8,200 miles to work with Valdez Saltwater Adventures. Currently based in Nanyuki, Kenya, where he lives with his wife, Abigail, and daughters, Olivia and Amelia. His journey has taken him around the globe—from the serene shores of the Florida Keys and the jungles of Thailand to the plains of Africa, the jagged cliffs of the Irish coast and the rugged beauty of Alaska.

After spending seven years navigating Key West and the surrounding islands, Curtis joined Valdez Saltwater Adventures in 2019 and quickly fell in love with the wild, untamed landscape of the Last Frontier. The magnetic pull of Alaska’s natural wonders have drawn him back from the other side of the world, now gearing up for an exciting return in the 2025 fishing season.

Curt’s love for the outdoors goes beyond just seeking personal thrills—he finds true joy in sharing these experiences with others. Whether guiding clients through the exhilarating waters of the Gulf of Alaska, trekking Mount Kenya’s vast terrain, rafting down the rivers of the Appalachians, or leading safaris through Africa’s bush, Curtis thrives on helping others step out of their comfort zones. There’s nothing more rewarding to him than seeing the excitement on his clients' faces when they achieve their goals.

Catch some delicious halibut while exploring some of the world’s most remote and breathtaking landscapes. Whether you’re navigating Alaska’s icy waters or seeking adventure in the wilds of far-flung corners of the globe, Curtis is ready to guide you on an unforgettable journey that combines natural beauty with personal achievement.

Captain Corey Peterson

Captain Corey grew up in Valdez and fell in love with saltwater fishing at a very young age while fishing with his grandpa. Corey had the dream of chasing after giant fish in the Gulf of Alaska. True to his go getting personality, in 2022 he walked the docks and begged to clean a charter boat to put himself one step closer to chasing his dream. This turned into a deckhand job on a charter boat, where he has continued to fine tune his skills of his already naturally fishy abilities. At the age of just 19 he completed his requirements to become a licensed Captain. In his off time he enjoys hunting, fishing, weight lifting, and spending time with his family. Captain Corey is mature beyond his age, as fishy as a person can get, and loves chasing after giant fish. His candid personality, fishing knowledge, and desire to make your trip an awesome and memorable experience make for a dangerous combination to the fish that swim the Gulf of Alaska and Prince William Sound waters.

Dock Boss Travis Treloar

Travis joined the Valdez Saltwater Adventures team in 2024, but has been a lifelong friend of Captain Will. Like Captain Will, he also proudly served in the military. Gunnery Sergeant Treloar served in the Marine Corps for 18 years, where he served 3 combat tours and was stationed in numerous countries and states. After the Marine Corps Travis attended culinary school and graduated with his culinary degree in 2020. He has dabbled in restaurant work and private chef duties as well. His love for cooking hasn’t disappeared, but when he came to Valdez for an overnight fishing trip with Captain Will in 2021 he quickly realized that Alaska and being by and on the ocean was his calling. Travis has filled a void that has been missing from Valdez Saltwater Adventures with the growth of our operations, greatly helping with efficiency and organizations of our operation. When he’s not busy ensuring our boats, gear, and everything are neat and orderly for smooth operations in our well kept boats he can be found pulling deckhand duties, cooking gourmet meals for the crew, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks in our day to day operations. In the off season Travis lives in New Braunfels, Texas where he enjoys spending time with his daughters Nahla and Nia, coaching basketball, cruising on his Harley, traveling to visit family, hanging out with friends, and stirring up his next recipe.
